Lakay Saint Lucia operates lakaysaintlucia.com as a directory and community connection platform for Saint Lucia. This notice explains how we handle information when you browse, create an account, list a business, request a service, advertise or seek work, leave feedback, or buy sponsored placement. Information we collect
Account information includes your username, email address, password authentication records, registration date and recorded sign-in activity. We also keep private agreement records: your submitting account, acceptance date and time, terms version and the declaration you accepted. These support accountability, moderation and dispute handling and are not displayed on public listings. We collect the details you submit in business profiles, contact preferences, photos, enquiries, requests, job vacancies, work-seeking posts, reviews, owner replies, reports and promotion orders. This can include a public name, business name, business country and city, service area, shipping and remote-service preferences, skills, availability, telephone number and email. Payment-order references, status and campaign dates are retained to manage sponsored placement. Hosting, security and email systems may process IP addresses, browser/device details, timestamps and delivery logs.
What becomes public
Approved business profiles and their selected contact details, descriptions and images are public. Approved community requests, vacancies and work-seeking posts display the name and any phone number or email you choose to enter. Public material may be indexed by search engines, shared on social media or copied by others. Do not post private home addresses, identity documents, account numbers, confidential workplace records, medical information or someone else’s private details. Public publication is separate from a private enquiry.
Worker references and reviews
Approved reviews show the reviewer’s public name, rating, text and date. A work reference may also show the reviewer’s business and stated relationship to the worker. Approved owner replies are public. Worker references are optional: new work-seeking posts offer a separate, unticked choice to enable them. Choosing not to enable references does not prevent a work-seeking post. Where enabled, references and their average are associated with the same member account across later opted-in work posts; they do not automatically disappear when a post leaves the jobs board. Contact us to withdraw this choice, request a correction, object to publication or ask for removal. We assess requests and any need to retain limited information for disputes or legal obligations. A reviewer’s declaration and moderation are not proof of employment, qualifications or independent verification.
Private messages, reports and notifications
Website enquiries are accessible to the sender, intended provider and authorised Lakay administrators. A matched service request is shared, with the permission given on its form, with up to five matching providers and administrators. Reports and disputes are private to the reporting member and authorised administrators; relevant concerns may be put to another party where needed to investigate, without unnecessarily revealing the reporter’s identity or unrelated private information. Administrators receive operational notices, including new-member registration and first recorded sign-in alerts. Account, password-reset, enquiry and moderation messages are service communications. Creating an account does not, by itself, subscribe you to promotional email.
Why we use information
We use information to operate accounts and the directory, publish material you choose to make public, connect members, deliver messages, manage reviews and disputes, protect the service, measure usage and administer promotions and payments. We rely on the permission you give, providing the service you request, necessary legitimate operational interests where applicable, and legal obligations. We do not treat reading this notice as consent for every use. Where processing depends on consent, you may contact us to withdraw it; this does not undo lawful processing already carried out.
Hosting, providers and external services
Website hosting, database, media storage, email delivery, analytics and payment providers process information needed to provide their services. Some processing may occur outside Saint Lucia. We limit access to the service purpose and take reasonable measures to protect information; no internet service can promise absolute security. Payment processors handle card details: Lakay does not store full card numbers. When you follow a WhatsApp, telephone, email, map, business website or social-sharing link, the receiving service has its own privacy practices. Information you send directly to a business or employer is handled by that recipient. Uploaded images may remain accessible through a direct media URL even if not shown in the public directory; upload only material suitable for that exposure.
How long information remains
We keep information for its account, publication, communication, security, payment or dispute purpose and review removal requests when that purpose ends. Job posts normally leave the public board after 60 days or an earlier vacancy deadline; that is not automatic deletion from administrative records. Records removed in My Account may move to recoverable WordPress storage. Linked enquiries, images, reviews and order records may require separate action. Enabled worker references can persist across work posts until reviewed for removal. Necessary transaction, security and dispute records may be retained for applicable legal or recordkeeping reasons. Backups and provider logs may retain copies for their normal retention cycles; immediate removal from every backup or third-party copy cannot be promised.
Your choices and privacy requests
You may browse without an account. Review the public details you supply and use available My Account controls to manage your content. To request access, correction, account closure, deletion, withdrawal of consent, restriction of publication or review of an objection, email info@lakaysaintlucia.com with the relevant profile/post/review link and the action requested. Use your registered email where possible. We may ask for proportionate information to confirm ownership; do not email passwords or identity documents unless a secure and necessary verification method has first been agreed. We consider requests under applicable law, explain material limitations and retain only information still needed. Removing content from Lakay does not necessarily remove search-engine caches, social shares or copies held by recipients.
Children and changes
Lakay accounts, posting and paid promotions are intended for people aged 18 or over. Do not publish children’s personal information or photographs without appropriate permission and a legitimate reason. Contact us if you believe a child’s information was submitted improperly. This notice was updated on 2 November 2026. Material changes will be identified with a new date and, where needed, a further notice or consent request.
